However you revise, for each poem you need to have notes on the following questions:
- Who wrote this poem?
- What themes does this poem connect to?
- What is the story and overall message of the poem? What is it about?
- Comment on the language and imagery used in the poem. What does it reveal about the feelings of the poet?
- What kind of tone does it help to establish?
- How does the form, structure and layout of the poem help to get the poet’s ideas across? How do the rhythm and rhyme of the poem contribute to its overall effect
- Evaluation: what is your overall view of this poem?
